Magical Princess Minky Momo Episode 46 + An Announcement

Episode 46: Dreams of Fenarinarsa

This isn't episode 26, obviously, and the reason for that is this is the end of this subbing project. With Crunchyroll putting out a second 15 episode batch, and a third 15 episode batch likely imminent, we've decided to end this project here, with the episode a lot of people have been waiting for. I cried. You're gonna cry too.

This isn't the end of the Minkster and her minions, but we're not finishing the 1982 TV show or starting the 1992 reboot. This is the first time we've ever had to drop a project mid-run, but this was really a blessing in disguise for us. As is tradition, I'd like to thank everyone who made this project happen: Touge, Sergio, perry, Muzu, imatu - thank you to Jsum for the raws and kenny lauderdale for inspiring me to start this project.

  6. before saying that the subbing project is ended I personally would see if and when shitty CR is releasing more episodes or it is just a stunt. And for now on Nyaa I don't see any release of their web rips (which is really strange) nor I see their A.I./google-translate subs on subs sites, I see the arabic version but not the english one.

  7. Thanks for your efforts. Is there any interest in picking up mahou no yousei persia? I think that's the last big 80's mahou shojou yet to be translated.

    1. Persia was officially streaming on Retrocrush for a couple of months back in 2023, but was removed before anyone ripped it. I highly doubt Inka has any interest in subbing a show that has official subs, even if they are currently unavailable.

    2. They are subbing Oishinbo, which had official subs on Youtube before it was removed from there, so I guess this is really not an issue.

    3. The reason we're doing Oishinbo is because the YT subs are... not good. They are 'correct', but as they're translated by, what I assume, is a JP native, their English is heavily stilted and unnatural.

In terms of Persia - no interest.

  8. It is indeed disheartening to observe the nature of some remarks shared here. The decision to cease this project was entirely within your rights, particularly when an official entity chose to undertake the show. Is that not the ultimate desire of all fans? To extend their official support to such endeavors? Yet, the discontent expressed by some, as if there is an absence of a commendable alternative, is quite perplexing. It is rather unfortunate. I extend my deepest gratitude for your diligent efforts so far.

  10. What alternatives you're speaking of? the only alternative available as of now for non-americans (you see, the world is not made of america only, even if americans would like to think otherwise) are arabic subs on subscene. I can't watch the series in this state, unless someone releases the full ENGLISH SUBS on subscene or Kitsunekko. On the official entity I've seen what an official entity does, with the officially sold release (that I happily pirated because I would have never paid it under torture) of a series beloved in my country for pure nostalgia more than anything else (Tiger Mask, in case you're wondering), and the OFFICIALLY SOLD RELEASE in comparison to fansubs available online sucked ass, hell it sucked ass in comparison to subs ripped off from chinese DVDs and translated with google. This is what the "official entities" do, a crap work that most of the community of fans does better without asking nothing in return. That said, I repeat that when I'll see ENGLISH Minky Momo subs and not arabic ones I'll try to continue this series. As of now, I'm stuck because I'm not american, I don't intend to pay a former pirate site slave to a shitty corporation like Sony for subs they themselves said they're based on A.I. translation and I can't, de facto, continue the series. Like I don't intend to pay a single dime to Toei due to their continuous repression of Tokusatsu fansubs.

    1. The 'alternative' being nyaa, where we post our work - and where the Minky eps on CR will likely end up at some point in the near future.

    2. On nyaa there is nothing, in this moment. BTW, I'm currently trying to see the quality of the subs in arabic translated in english through a google-translate site (I know, it's not the best solution ever but hey, if there are no other options available I try what I can, animes or J-Dramas it's the same), if this is the quality of the Crunchyroll subs it's Tiger Mask level of atrocity all over again. I sincerely don't get why these corporate schmucks do such a shitty work while asking you money whereas the fans subbing for simple passion most of the time (not all of them) do what these series deserve, meaning a good job. It makes no sense. If you pay you have a worst quality than what you could get if you didn't pay from other fans of the medium like you.

    3. I don't see why you're so bent out of shape over it.

The first 15 eps of Minky are on CR - and the remaining eps will likely be on there at some point.

Also, we've compared the first 15 eps with our own, and theirs are fine - there's nothing wrong with their quality.

    4. the songs not translated at the very start, for example? maybe somebody would like to know the meaning of the songs, they didn't bother to translate the songs. And mind you, the series has different OP and ED, they're not the same through the 62 episodes, so if you don't translate them I'm going to lose something inbetween. I'm not angry in the slightest, I just don't trust them. The first 15 episodes are on CR...correction, are on the AMERICAN version of Crunchyroll, the version only AMERICANS IN AMERICA can watch. If you're not american you're de facto f****d unless you're willing to rely on arabic subs translated into english by using google translate.

    5. Sorry, I meant unless you're willing to rely on arabic subs translated via google translate through sub translation sites you don't have the means to watch the series.

    6. Again, I don't trust any of these people releasing "official" subs due to experience. I get you're not italian, you don't care of an unnamed person behind an alias telling you what the official distributor of a anime that in my country has an important cultural reputation (being it shite or not, that's not the point) did with said cultural landmark, it doesn't matter, I can testify I've never seen subs as awful as the "official" Tiger Mask ones, and we're speaking of the main anime distributor in my country, a distributor that was started when Crunchyroll didn't exist even as a pirate site. If these people were able to make such an hamfisted work of a cultural landmark of my country in comparison to fansubs expecting me to trust Crunchyroll who are literally nothing in comparison to this publisher is impossible.

    7. My mistake, when I said the first 15 are on CR, I meant to say that the first 15 are on nyaa - the site where our stuff gets posted anyway.

The first 45 are on CR, and will likely go on nyaa at some point - for non-US audiences.

    8. If I remember correctly, the people who did the Tiger Mask subs are the same who in its time imported friggin' Evangelion in this country and it was because of them that it was streamed on normal TV broadcasting, and they are currently the ones who hold the rights to Sailor Moon. They imported Evangelion, they imported Cowboy Bepop, de facto if it wasn't for them me and other people wouidn't have seen this series on normal TV broadcasting in the first place. If people existing from 1991 do subbing of a landmark series that is comparable to the chinese rips of subs of Tsurikichi Sanpei I have found on Nyaa imagine CR. Of course not all of the fansubbing on the internet is top notch, yours is very good but your group is your group, but expecting trust for official anime distributors after that AWFUL experience is beyond imaginable. I would have never believed if I hadn't seen it myself.
